Capt. Dante Derosa

"One More Cast" Light Tackle Charters

If you fish for tuna fish in western Long Island, ya likely know who Dante Derosa is.

The “Prince of Point Lookout” has been OMC’s first-string mate since he was 13.  Hardest working kid we knew of back then, and the hardest working now.

During his 5 years at OMC, he was always the first one at the dock, and the last one to leave, making sure the boats were spotless, all fish were cleaned and bagged, and the dock was in order.  There were some nights we’d have to order him to leave!

During such time, Dante was and is always eager to learn.  Not just about fish and fishing, but about boat and engine repair and maintenance.  When something needed to be fixed, Dante was always asking questions and lending a hand.  As a result, this dude knows a LOT about boats.  So much so that he literally built his own.  It’s pretty damn impressive that he’s refurbished a 1985 25’ Mako from top-to-bottom with his own two hands.  He’s actually one of a handful of people we trust to work on our boats.

But Capt. Dante is primarily characterized by an undying love of fishing.  He is and always has been a fishing-addict.  It’s not surprising that the day he turned 18 he got his Captain’s license.  I mean, this dude has more sea-time than most Captains twice his age, and his maturity level has always been far beyond his years.

He’s a real good dude, but more importantly, an excellent fisherman.  Some guys just have it in their blood, and he’s definitely one of them.  Without a doubt, he’s got a nose for finding fish.  And at the ripe age of 18?  He may just be one of the BEST tuna fishermen on Long Island.  Pretty damn good striper fisherman too.

Oh, and he’s currently studying music at Belmont University. He’s actually an awesome musician!

It’s an honor to have Dante Captaining the boats this year.  There ain’t no one we’d trust more behind the helm.
