Capt. Anthony Gucciardo is the “new kid” here at OMC, but there ain’t no one here who questions his ability.
He knows boats, he knows tuna, and he damn sure knows how to find’em.
The truth is that you won’t find someone who’s more passionate, more obsessed, or someone that works as hard as this dude. He is almost always the first one at the dock, and the last one to tie up. Last fall he came cruising in at dark when the other boats were tied up and cleaned up, with a bluefin that was just about double the size of anything the rest of us caught. If there’s a late bite, you can be sure he’s on it.
If he’s not out running one of the Contenders, you can likely find him on the beach, chasing stripers, or bottom fishing his favorite pieces in the waters off Long Island.
Anthony grew up fishing in the Shinnecock area. He’s been running boats since before he could drive a car and fishing hard since he could pretty much walk. He attended college at SUNY Fredonia with a double major in Business and Communications. In 2019 he quit his corporate, got his captain’s license, and started his own business. He somehow finds time to run a digital marketing company catering mostly to the fishing industry. It’s notable that he works with THE best tuna jig and pop rod manufacturer, OMC sponsor Centaur Anglers Choice.
Tony joined us in 2021, with lots of time under his belt as a private for-hire Captain, mostly on large center consoles and mostly offshore. He’s been running lots of offshore trips for us on the Contenders, and we expect he’ll be running even more in 2022. We’re stoked to have him on board!
